Accessibility

Built for everyone who works the desk

Library staff and volunteers should be able to run their schedule no matter how they use a computer. We build Stacks to WCAG 2.1 AA — the standard US public libraries reference for Section 508.

What's in place today

Verified on every release with automated accessibility testing:

  • Color contrast that meets WCAG AA, in both light and dark themes
  • Keyboard-operable controls, built on accessible UI primitives
  • Semantic structure: meaningful headings, page landmarks, and a skip-to-content link
  • Labeled forms and controls
  • Reflows to small screens and supports browser zoom past 200%
  • Respects your system light/dark and reduced-motion settings

Still in progress

We're completing a structured manual screen-reader and keyboard audit of every core flow. When it's done we'll publish a detailed Accessibility Conformance Report (VPAT) covering WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508. Until then we report only what we've verified, rather than claim full conformance early.

Found a barrier?

Tell us and we'll fix it. Accessibility issues go to the top of the list, and we'll work with you to get you what you need in the meantime.
